It’s Christmas Time at Logs End..

Merry Christmas, Happy Yule, Blessed Solstice to one and all!
This year things are a little different, quieter and less hectic.  With the addition of Cooper, going out, going away and going all over the place have come to almost a complete halt.  To be honest, I’m not complaining one bit about that, it’s nice to be home more.  I’ve enjoyed baking cookies with Randy on the weekends and watching the snow fall.
The decorations are up though not as many (or as fragile) as years past.  Since we didn’t know how Cooper would be with the tree and decorations we were careful about what we put up.  He’s done really, really well considering this is his first Christmas and how big he is!

I’m happy to report that my Santa’s have remained in one piece (so far).

The garland is still up on the rails, the villages haven’t been broken and the stockings are still hanging by the fire.  I’ve been careful to not put anything that smells tasty into those stockings so that he would continue to ignore them Winking smile  I can hardly wait till Christmas morning when he gets to dive into his stocking and play with the toys we got him.  Though if his past has been any indication of his future, I suspect the wrapping paper and boxes will be his favorite gifts of all!

A Taste of Winter…

Now it feels like winter!  I am really happy to see the snow, I was so excited to take Cooper out to see his first ever snow!  I’d hoped Cooper would love it the way I do and did he ever!

He ran around like a maniac in the first little bit that came down.  He chased it, he rooted in it and he did his best to catch the snowflakes in his mouth.  It was so funny to see him just running, leaping and just enjoying something new.

Zoe came out with us, she wanted to see what was going on and why he was leaving divots in the driveway!  She loves the snow too, that’s why she’s Snowy Zoe, but she’s much too refined now to behave so insanely.

Or maybe not! They played a little, some hopping, pawing and that lovely mouthy thing dogs do. Everyone was tired and wet so we came in to get warm and dry.  What better way to spend an afternoon than decorating the Christmas tree!

After we had a little more snow on the ground back out we all went and more play ensued.

Here is Cooper testing out his flying ability.  He and Zoe were romping around like two puppies together.  She finally tired and just stood and watched as he ran laps around her.  I don’t blame her, he tires me out when he gets the zoomies like that!

Even Zoe got in on the running act, though maybe she was running to get away from her crazy baby brother!
Once inside it was time for a winter’s nap by the fire!

It was a great winter day and we are looking for many more snowy days, hopefully some with some deeper snow for Cooper to really play in.  Now let’s hope that the ice doesn’t cause too many problems tonight and tomorrow morning!
Happy Snow Day!

Merry Christmas to All!

dddecor 007

If you know me even just a little, you know that this is my favorite time of the year.  For me there is something magical about Christmas time, something so special but I can’t put it into words really, it’s a feeling.  It’s a feeling that I try my very, very best to carry with me all year long!  My wish for all of you is to have a beautiful Christmas and if you don’t celebrate Christmas, I wish you the happiest of Holidays!

Here I am..

Things have slowed way down outside, the weather has finally gotten colder (thank you!) and today it even rained albeit, not very much.  I’ve spent all of today decorating for Christmas, we have a maddening busy December this year and we don’t even have hockey to contend with! (Which is perhaps how we got so busy!) I’ve been working on staying ahead of the tidal wave that is December and am not doing too terribly badly at it!

I managed to get the Moose room and tree all decked out.  It’s very pretty when the lights are on and it’s so cozy out there since we’ve rearranged the furniture.  I suppose I need to get a picture of that!

We also got up the ‘big’ tree!

But that was as far as we got this past weekend.  We will be decorating it this week and the rest of the house.  I’ll be sure to share some photographs after all is said and done!

In any event, there are things that still need to be done outside before I can call the season a wrap and I hope we can get to them this weekend.  The beehive needs some insulating and I believe the we are going to go the panel route.  I also have some allium bulbs that need to go into the dirt as soon as possible!  We shall see if that happens or if they end up in pots!  Truth be told I’m a little nervous to plant them as not only do I have spring bulbs that have emerged, but someone took it upon themselves to dig up those that I planted a couple of weekends ago.  I found random bulbs laying on the ground in the flower beds.  Sigh…

December…

December is a busy month here at Logs End, our anniversary is on the 9th, my brother has his birthday on the 17th, my in laws have their anniversary on that day as well.  My birthday follows on the 24th and then of course Christmas comes!
This year for our anniversary we took part in a Charles Dickens Dinner at Iron Bridge Wine Company.  We had a great time and can easily see this becoming a yearly thing!  Here we are on the night of the dinner in front of our tree…

Unlike years past, with all the roof stuff still going on this year the tree went up in the living room.  The sunroom, where the tree normally goes became home to a second tree, one that is very dear to me..

A moose tree!  Yes I finally have my very own themed tree and it’s all about my moose love affair.  I was pondering as to how exactly this affection for moose came about and I realized that it all started with one ornament over 16 years ago, maybe even longer.  The ornament is a wooden heart with bells and a boy and girl moose and it says “Our 1st Christ-Moose”.  Of course I’ve since added and been given many, many moose and this tree is evidence of that.  One day I will make it up to Vermont or Maine and get to see some real live Moose!
Wishing all of you the very Merriest, Happiest most Wonderful Holidays!

Christmas Time!

We figure with the door right there, it will be easy for Santa to find the Christmas tree!
Merry Christmas everyone!
