A Williamsburg Anniversary!

I love, love, love this time of the year.  The colder weather, the snow and of course the magic of Christmas.  December is also when we celebrate our wedding anniversary and this year it was the big 15!  We headed off to Williamsburg, Virginia for a long weekend and a much needed vacation. We started our trip at the Williamsburg Winery where we had a wonderful lunch at the Gabriel Archer Tavern and then headed over to take the Reserve Wine tasting tour.  On this tour they take you out to the vineyard to talk to you about the vines and grapes they grow, then they take you on a tour through the winery itself.  The tour also takes you into the barrel rooms which is totally cool!  You get to see all the different wines in all the different barrels, light and medium oaks, oaks from America and France.  The tour ends with a wonderful cheese plate and a tasting of a selection of their reserve wines.  It’s absolutely wonderful and I suggest that if you ever get the chance that you take the tour.
We then went off to check into our room at the Fife and Drum a bed and breakfast that is located next to Merchant Square in Williamsburg.  The location was fantastic, the room was nice but the breakfast left a lot to be desired.  Lucky for us there was great coffee shop called Aromas right next door and so we headed there each morning. Dinner on our anniversary was at Christiana Campbell's Tavern and it was delicious!  While in Williamsburg we also had lunch at The Cheese Shoppe and at The Kings Arm Tavern where we dinned on Pottage Pye (chicken pot pie) and it was incredibly good on a cold December day!   If you ever hear about a Crystal Concert go and check it out, we’ve seen Dean twice for his Christmas show.  It’s a really special treat to hear Christmas carols played on glass instruments that were invented by Benjamin Franklin.
Something we did this trip that we’ve never done before was go to Bush Gardens for the Christmas Town.  I am a Christmas Eve baby, I love Christmas everything about it so going to a place called Christmas Town was not going to be missed.  We had a blast there! The lights, the trees, the shows, the food it was so much fun! It was cold so the rides that were supposed to be open weren’t, but that didn’t matter at all, it was still so much fun!!!  We spent our last day roaming around historic Williamsburg touring the sites and looking at the holiday decorations.
We had a fantastic time and I’m sure we will be going back again!
